Project Aim

The Project Object was to develop a functional typeface from a referenced image.

Inspiration

Sellos Antiguo Del Mexico was a publishing in 1948 by Jorge Enciso. His book documented various unique stamp designs , with the cover notably displaying the unique typeface, referenced here.

Sketching Letterforms

The letterforms from the cover were referenced and sketched at 4" height. The letterforms were then compared within the team and adjustments were made to the weight, tails, and for overall consistency.

Completing the Typeface

After sketching and digitizing the letterforms in Illustrator, our letterforms were set to adjust weight, kerning, and uniformity.

Once the letter forms and special characters were finalized in Illustrator, they were brought into Glyphs to develop and export the final typeface.
